Just Sayin

I just want to preface my last post by saying that I'm PROUD as hell that we as AMERICANS have overcome RACE and elected a black (ok, well half black) president. That speaks volumes for us as a country.

Let it be known that I am not racist but I just do NOT agree w/ Obama's politics.

I'm scared people. Real fucking scared. And you should be too.

I am scared to death too. Last time a Democrat (Clinton) was in office my husbands dad lost his job. Well now my husband has that same job and we live in the same town they had to move from.

Actually I am beyond scared.

You survived 8 years of Bush. You'll be fine. The only reason you would have to be scared, is if you really believed Obama was a Muslim Terrorist or the Anti-Christ.

Do you see how the shit you've read off myspace has made you afraid?

The easiest way to conquer your fear is to face it. If you are afraid he is the anti-christ, research it. You will see nothing indicates he is the Anti-Christ anymore than Bush or Clinton or Jon Stewart or anyone else.

If you think he is a secret Muslim Terrorist, research it and you will find irrefutable facts that state he is not.

Peel away the bullshit and now you have a man, not a demon or a terrorist, but just another American politician.

So you don't agree with his politics.... on what issues? It's hard to understand your fear of his politics when you don't cite specific examples.

I don't think we are in store for any radical changes, possibly universal health care, but even that would be issued through a tax credit.

You seem to be a middle to upper middle class family, so you definitely will take home more money under an Obama government.

If you want to be scared, be scared of the economy. A depression, not recession is on the horizon. Obama had nothing to do with that... you can thank the likes of Bush and McCain for advocating as little oversight in the Financial world as possible and also thank them for bailing out the banker and Wall Street cats.

I mean, if you and your hubby went to Vegas and blew all your money on a stupid bet that everyone warned you was going to bankrupt you, do you think anybody would write you a check to cover your losses... and if in some fucked up reality that did happen... do you think anybody would speak to you if you went a fucking vacation with part of the money given to Hawaii???

Now that scares me. Not a black president with a funny name.

Okay, I do not understand that last paragraph at all! What in Hell are you talking about?

ANONY: Number ONE.......I bawled my fucking eyes out when Bush was re-elected. Had a full blown panic attack to book. Not. Fun.

I'm not scared of Obama because I think he is a secret muslim or even the anti christ. I am scared because I don't agree with or believe in his politics.

You want specific examples...okay. I don't agree w/ pulling our troops out of Iraq as quickly as he plans. And remember this is coming from someone whose husband served in Iraq and was injured severely enough that he received one of his purple hearts because of it. Trust me I want our troops home as much as anyone else but now is not the right time.

I don't agree w/ or want socialized healthcare. At. All. Many people that live in countries w/ socialized healthcare despise it. What makes you think our country will be any different.

He wants to raise the minimum wage to over $9 an hour. You know what that means. Companies will now be paying janitors over $9 an hour which means all the other employees who went to college will inevitably be getting paid more because who wants to get a four year degree for only a few more bucks worth of pay. This in turns leads to companies employing less people, a rise in unemployment and more stress on our economy because nobody can afford anything other than basic nessesities anymore.

He wants to give people an incentive to go to college by giving them 4000 a year for school. Yes it will be contingent on community service but really where is that money coming from? Hello more debt!

I am again not terrified because of the rumors going around. (yes i know i posted some on here and i should have researched them but my mind was already made up and i just threw it up there)

I consider myself a well educated voter. I am not misled by the rumors and can cite even more examples of why I don't want this man as our president.

The one thing it has nothing to do w/ is the color of his skin. Quite frankly i don't car if he's fucking rainbow colored and has two heads...if I thought he was the best man for our country I would have voted for him.

Unfortunaely many people did not do their research and when asked why they were voting for Obama one of them said "because I don't want to live in a cardboard box". She couldn't elaborabe at all..that was her sole reason for voting for Obama. I fear many people cast their vote haphazardly w/ no explanation just as this girl did.

And finally as far as the economy goes. I know I'm in the majority but I'd rather them take a few more bucks out of our paychecks and get our economy fixed than give me more tax breaks, cuts, and credits. The time has passed for all this tax credit bullshit. Our country is seriously in debt. Stop the fucking handouts and save our country.

Obama wanting to spread the wealth makes me want to fucking puke. There is no God Damn wealth to spread right now.

And now I'm headed to bed. If you need a further explanation please let me know!

Jaime,

See, now I can respect what your saying. You sound informed, educated on the subject and intelligent.

I respectfully disagree about Iraq, I'm tired of the US spending 10 billion a month on a war that doesn't even lower gas prices.

However I think we should ramp up troops in Afghanistan.

I definitely don't agree with his socialized health care policy either.

I don't know where you got the $9 figure in regards to minimum wage, however he is in favor of raising the minimum wage. From what I gather, it's more likely a figure of $7.25 to $7.50. I'm conflicted on this one... on the one hand, we keep it low, I believe its like 5 something in Ark, and these families typically require state or federal assistance as they can't completely support their families on a single income of $5 bucks an hour... but, on the other, when you raise the min. wage, employers typically cut jobs, especially the smaller businesses.... in the larger business, especially in manufacturing or retail, they raise the price of goods.. that's a tough one, honestly I'm not sure where I'm at, however, in states like Washington and California, where the min. wage is already $7 something, it hasn't really adversely affected the economy. Verdict is still out for me, haven't made a decision yet.

I agree with the 4k in exchange for community service for college students, however I would hope (and once again I don't know the full details of this proposal) that the student must meet a financial hardship level to qualify.

As far as sharing the wealth goes... personally, I'm tired as fuck of having the burdens of the world (and the bill for everything) placed squarely on my middle class shoulders.

It's time the wealthy few in this world shared the brunt of the cost.

I'm all about the handouts being shut off, but taxing the upper-crust and lowering the tax on the working man isn't a handout.

I'm not a Democrat and given another choice besides Obama or McCain that was worth a damn I would have voted differently.

McCain is a great American, had he not played the political game and selected Palin as his VP, he probably would have had my vote. I just couldn't handle the thought of him stroking out and leaving her as the President.

Now I'm headed to bed. Great response though.

Hey, just wanted to quickly show you where I read that about minimum wage going up to $9.50.

Taken from his own website:
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/poverty/

Make work pay for all Americans:
Obama and Biden will increase benefits for working parents, raise the minimum wage to $9.50 an hour by 2011, and provide tax relief to low- and middle-income workers.

I'll be back later, right now I'm going to get my son new glasses!
